'Sontha Vooru' is not a commercial movie it is more of an art movie. While the first half explains the characters
and their lives and the second half has the actual plot. Technically script is weak and the screenplay is just
okay.
Story:
Rudraswamy (LB Sriram) is caretaker of the graveyard and the funerals in a small village. Devudu
(Tanikella Bharani) is an educated elder who is regarded as a leader of the
village. The situations
take a turn when the government announces that they want to take over the village by
giving compensation to the villagers and come up with a special economic zone. This
is forwarded by the MRO (MS) and Devudu decides that it is in best interest of the
society and the villagers to sell the entire village. Devudu convinces everybody to
sell. Rudra's friends are Bujjigadu (Raja) and Malli (Teertha) who is a prostitute. Bujji is in
love with Malli deeply and wants to marry her. The rest of the story is all about what happens when Rudraswamy
realizes that
Devudu has erred. What happens to Bujji's love story with Malli? All this forms the rest of the story.
Performance:
'Sontha Vooru' completely belongs to LB Sriram, his performance was superb. Raja was apt as limping
innocent lover. Teertha as prostitute really did well, she had a very dusky sex appeal. Swathi was average.
Jayaprakash Reddy, Vijayachander, MS were just about okay. Tanikella Bharani also did a good job.
Music:
Music is average.
Verdict:
'Sontha Vooru' being more of an art movie, it may not fare well in B and C centers. LB Sriram's performance
and strong dialogues are the only plus point of this movie. Also the movie ends up with a sad note, chances of it
faring well at box office is very meak. Totally depends on the individual's personal interest in watching this
movie. Movie can be rated as average. | |
