'City of Gold' is directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. And he has come up with a hard pill to digest for the audience and both his presentation and narrative were strong.
Story:
The story deals with a family comprising of Mohan (vineet), Mami (kashmira), Mama (satish), Aai (seema). This is a family which is part of the mill workers who used to give in their flesh and blood during the mid 80s and that is what made the Mumbai that it is today. But eventually, the mills closed down and they have been replaced by night clubs, lounges, pubs, discos and huge shopping malls. Though the culture might have gone modern, it has made its foundation on the lives of thousands of such workers. This instigates the rebel in Mohan to come out and he has got his friend Naru (karan), Speedbreaker (siddarth), Baba (ankush). Together, they form a gang and what happens hereafter is to be seen on the screen.
Performance:
Vineet did his bit as required, Sameer was superb, Kashmira was perfect, Satish was splendid, Ganesh was good, Sachin was convincing, Seema was fabulous, Ankush was apt but the real show stealer was Karan Patel who is a shocking revelation. The others also contributed effectively and added value to the film.
Music:
'City of Gold' music is composed by Ajit Parab. And the background score added to the moods, and songs were not upto the mark.
